My critique partner, Anthony Pearson, is doing a series on his blog where he is sharing critiques he has received on one of his stories. Currently, he has two critiques up. I did a critique on the story a few weeks ago, and he should have mine added to the blog next week. So, if you want to see more example critiques from me and a few other writers click on the link below.

Thanks to Russ Cox, Julie Falatko, Sabrina Marchal, and Jennifer Young for helping me answer the question about in-person versus online critique groups.
A BIG THANK YOU TO KRISTEN FULTON and WOW nonficpic for making this webinar available. Every year, starting June 21, Kristen challenges the members of WOW nonficpic to write a nonfiction picture book a day for the week, and there are prizes! All year long, the group has fun writing, networking, revising, learning, and winning. Now, Kristen has added extremely informative free webinars as one of the group benefits. Also, in February 2014, there will be a mini challenge that will be centered around doing research for nonficiton works. To join, click on the link below, and ask to join. It is a great group of writers.

This looks wonderful and so valuable, Alayne! Thank you. Would you be willing to share a link to this post on the Children’s Book Hub Facebook Group? Or may I share the link there?
Thank you, Beth. You are so very kind. I would love it if you shared the link on Children’s Book Hub Facebook Group.
Thanks! Will do!
The webinar was great – so valuable! Thanks, Alayne.
You are fabulous! Webinar was awesome and you give the best critiques.
You ain’t so bad yourself, Kristen 🙂 Thank you for you kind words and support. And for the opportunity to do this webinar. It has been a fantastic experience.
Textbook webinar and terrific follow up here. Thank you for hosting it and for your kind answers to questions, Alayne. :0)
Glad you liked it, Donna. Thank you for your support.
I haven’t looked at all the links, but am laughing as I was telling my sister about Anthony Pearson’s series today. She knows him in person and I commented on one of his revision posts after reading his book. I told my sister it’s a small world.
Sure is a small world. What a coincidence.
That was a fantastic and detailed webinar. Thanks for leading it and for sharing your examples too.
I’m so happy you like the webinar, Linda. Thank you for letting me know. If you found one tip that works for you, I am happy.
I need to update my Java (or something) before I can watch the webinar, but this post is great! I loved reading your critique. You do a wonderful job shaping your reasons for suggestions. I learned a lot from you. 🙂 Thanks Alayne!
So sweet of you to comment, Hannah – even sweeter of you to offer a critique for the webinar and material in this blog. I learned from your critique as well. As you’ll see when you watch the webinar, I thought it was interesting that you and I have a very similar approach to writing critiques. I thought it was funny that you liked the mom and I found her to be mean. I liked the way you pointed out in the body of the text that the theme kept changing, and there was really more than one story within the story. It was a fun exercise to have these detailed critiques on the same manuscript from two different people.

I’m having trouble…wondering if you can help. When I hit to save the download it asks me if I want to use the app to open it…. but there’s no app… I’m so confused and so computer illiterate.
What is it that you are trying to save, Carol?
Trying to open the webinar Alayne 🙂
Try clicking on the link now. It looks like it was moved to dropbox. Please let me know if you can open it.
Make sure if you have the blog open, that you close it and then open it back up, so it refreshes for the update.
It asks me what I want to open it with but nothing seems to open it?
Thank you Alayne for all the wonderful information and links. It is lovely to put a voice to the face. 🙂
Thank you.
